But, I have ordered a spray gun now (not Hozelock as they are £23) and I am sure that will sort out this little niggle. This makes turning off the water a bit more complicated than it should be. This is a great value retractable hose and I have dropped one star because of a) the installation issues and b) the lack of a pistol spray head - only a nozzle is provided. After a minute or so the water began to flow out and as I pulled on the hose, it released the mechanism and I could walk back with the hose retracting beautifully. It goes on the other side but luckily the connector hose was long enough to reach the other side and allowed the reel to swing in both directions.Īll connected, I walked to the end of the garden and had the tap switched on by someone. I had put the mount to the left (as you look at it) of the tap assuming that the hose connected to that side. In the end, I susstituted one of the top ones with a shorter screw which worked out well. I used the correct drill size and the supplied raw plugs fitted but screwing in very difficult as the screws are quite long. The instructions seemed straightforward, but be warned, affixing to the wall is not the easiest of jobs. I had looked at wall mounted solutions in the past but when I saw this Hozelock 40m hose for only £130, I bit the bullet. The wall plugs are larger and the screws were tightened with a spanner.įor years I have suffered with leaking hoses that remain uncoiled thus making my patio a real mess. I think they do in Australia, where I installed the same kind of retractable hozepipe ('Hozelink') for my sister in law a few weeks ago. They were not very expensive I do not know why Hozelock does not supply better ones. In the picture, the Hozelock supplied screws and plugs are on the left the ones I used from B&Q are on the right. I bought some much better replacement screws and plugs (from B&Q), which work well and were easy to install. The screws have a Philips, cross pattern which means it's nearly impossible to tighten them properly without the screwdriver jump out. The plugs are really too small, and they are sealed at the sharp end so do not expand properly. When I started to mount the hose assembly onto the bracket, the screws plugs simply pulled out of the wall. But the screws and wall plugs supplied with it are inadequate. Once installed, the hose is good to use easy to pull out and it rectracts well. Good retractable hosepipe but very poor fixings To learn more about how and for what purposes Amazon uses personal information (such as Amazon Store order history), please visit our Privacy Notice.
